are you just might hear that Woodinville is absolutely the best place to live in
the Pacific Northwest.
Woodinville is a convenient home-base, with its easy access to highways and transportation,
for anyone seeking to explore the Puget Sound region. Located between Seattle and
Bellevue, our community enjoys the advantages and convenience of being near several
major metropolitan centers while maintaining the livability of all that is great
about small town life.
For those who like history without the homework, Woodinville began as a logging
community in the late 19th century, then embraced agriculture in the early decades
of the 20th century. Incorporated as a city in 1993, the
Woodinville Heritage Society serves as custodians of the
heritage and history of Woodinville while the
Woodinville Memorial Mead preserves the pioneer cemetery.
The
Hollywood Schoolhouse,
a historical landmark originally built in 1912, houses an extensive antique, artifact,
and memorabilia collection with facilities available to rent for a variety of events.
The city's first newspaper,
The Woodinville
Weekly is still run by the family of it's founder, Carol Edwards("Mother
of Woodinville") who organized the first All Fool's Day Parade, founded the
Woodinville Community Band and co-founded the city's Chamber
of Commerce,
Farmers
Market and
wine
festival.
Residents come naturally by their love of just about everything green and feel passionately
about their environment and its beautiful woodland landscape. Surrounded by the
foothills of the Cascade Mountains and the timeless beauty of the Olympics and Mount
Rainier, Woodinville is committed to preserving its natural beauty. The climate
is ideal for those who enjoy spending time in the great outdoors. The city has vast
amounts of open space, city parks, multi-purpose fields, playgrounds, walking, biking,
hiking and running trails, a skateboard park, tennis and basketball courts open
all year long. The surrounding area offers lakes, rolling hills and mountains for
the outdoor enthusiast. No matter what your passion is, you won't have to go far
to enjoy hot air ballooning, equestrian trails, backpacking, canoeing, fishing,
rock climbing and wildlife watching adventures.
Woodinville stands at the center of Washington's wine industry with over 75 wineries
in the city and surrounding areas. Stroll around the grounds of the historical
Chateau St. Michelle Winery.
St. Michelle sponsors an outdoor
summer concert series at its amphitheatre on the winery
grounds that is one of the Pacific Northwest's most popular venues. Tours and wine
tastings are available at the majority of the
wineries and a popular event is the annual
Passport to Woodinville Weekend, where you can taste
many of the area's exclusive boutique wines. You can also enjoy one of the Northwest's
finest microbrews at the popular
Redhook
Brewery and Aviator Ale and take a tour of their operations.
In the heart of wine country is the
Willows Lodge, an 84-room rustic retreat offering a full-service
spa and two of the most highly-rated restaurants in the Northwest —
The Herbfarm Restaurant and the
Barking Frog. Woodinville has dining options for all
tastes and budgets, from fast food to fine dining with a wide variety of culinary
fare including casual and ethnic, diners, delis and take-out.
