On November 14, 2024, the Woodinville Chamber proudly hosted the November Building Relationships Breakfast, an inspiring event focused on advancing diversity, equity, inclusion, and accessibility (DEIA) in our workplaces and community. A heartfelt thank you to Fairwinds – Brittany Park for graciously hosting us and providing a delicious breakfast for attendees!

This year’s keynote panel, “Inclusion and Accessibility Resources for Your Business and Workplace,” featured an exceptional group of experts who shared actionable strategies for fostering inclusive environments:

The discussion was expertly moderated by David Edwards, Equal Employment Opportunity Investigations Manager for King County and City Councilmember for the City of Woodinville.

Attendees explored practical tools and innovative strategies to enhance workplace inclusion, including:

  1. Accessibility and Workplace Design: Resources for implementing accommodations and assistive technologies to create accessible environments for all employees.
  2. Foundations of Allyship and DEIA Practices: Cascadia College’s Equity & Inclusion programs offer foundational courses to deepen understanding of equity and inclusion, benefiting both beginners and advanced practitioners.
  3. Economic and Social Benefits of Hiring Individuals with Disabilities: The Division of Vocational Rehabilitation (DVR) highlighted the advantages of hiring from this talent pool, such as reduced turnover, access to financial incentives, and improved organizational performance.
  4. Building Safe and Welcoming Spaces: EvergreenHealth shared resources on supporting LGBTQ+ communities through health equity initiatives and community education

This session empowered leaders, HR professionals, and community members to take actionable steps toward building more inclusive organizations. Together, we are shaping a future where diversity and accessibility thrive. Want to join our next breakfast event?
