Today 1 in 2 men, and 1 in 3 women will be diagnosed with cancer. Cancer is a disease that impacts all of us, but we can make a difference to impact tomorrow. The American Cancer Society is the largest funder outside of the government for cancer research. In 2017, the American Cancer Society awarded 2.5 million dollars in grants to four researchers at University of Washington and Seattle Cancer Care Alliance. The money raised in 2017, also went to support amazing programs for cancer patients and survivors in the community. Local hospitals in King County provide Look Good Feel Good classes for women to teach them new makeup regiments while undergoing treatment. ACS also recruits local volunteers for our free rides program for patients called Road to Recovery helping alleviate the biggest barrier to care for cancer patients. We also support a 24/7 1-800 number that anyone can call, anytime to asks questions about cancer, and speak to real live representatives who are there to help.
Our fundraising events Relay For Life, bring together communities to raise money locally to support these programs, honor community members who have lost their battle to cancer, and support survivors in the community.
Help us continue to save lives, celebrate lives, and lead the fight for a world without cancer.
