Celebrate Woodinville 2022 Grand Marshal

The Woodinville Chamber is pleased to name Mr. Egon Molbak as this year’s Celebrate Woodinville Grand Marshal. Egon and Laina Molbak arrived to the Seattle-area from Denmark. On December 1, 1956, they founded Molbak’s garden + home. Decades later, it is still a beloved institution in Woodinville.

Additionally, in 1962, Mr. Molbak helped to found the Woodinville Chamber of Commerce. The Chamber had 12 members during its first year in existence and met regularly at the Gold Creek Lodge. With 2022 hosting the Woodinville Chamber’s 60th Anniversary, Mr. Molbak was a perfect fit for this honor. “Woodinville had very few businesses at that time. We had Molbak’s, Woodinville Motors, the Mercantile, and a few others. It was very low key. We would just get together to have lunch,” Egon recalls.

Egon Molbak is now 97-years old, retired, and spends his time with dear friends and family, including daughters Kirsten and Ellen who will join him in a classic convertible on Celebrate Woodinville Parade day. Egon is also proud that his son, Jens, still owns Molbak’s garden + home today, though points out that Jens has a management team in place. “Julie (Kouhia) and the management team do a great job, keeping the spirit we’ve always had. You come not just to shop but to enjoy the experience at Molbak’s.”

The Woodinville Chamber is pleased that Mr. Molbak has accepted the honor of Grand Marshall and look forward to seeing the community come out and show support.

We invite the community to learn more about this year’s Celebrate Woodinville Summer Concerts & Festival at celebratewoodinville.com and look forward to reveling in the season with our Woodinville community!
